New Computer & New Attitude

Hi again friends!  I know it’s been like a month since I last wrote to you and for that I couldn’t be more sorry.  First, I want to say thank you, thank you, to those of you who emailed me and wrote comments about whether to overhaul this blog.

I’ve made a decision.

I love this blog and what it does for me and what I hope it’s doing for you.  A place to laugh at or with me.  A place to get gutsy with paint, power tools, and with a perfectly imperfect crafty project.

I want to keep it that way.  And so with my mind made up and your voices heard, let’s move forward.

I’ll keep this blog as is AND I’ll create another blog in my own name for more random bits about life.  I’ll probably shamelessly promote said bits here with a link.  Read it if you dare.

Now that I’ve fully handled that let me explain what in the world has been the happs here.

My ‘puter has been with me since 2007.  A boot camp graduation gift from Big Daddy.  For the last year I’ve been working off my external hard drive because this old girl caught some ‘puter dementia and lost her memory.  Actually, I just used it all up times a bajillion.  But I’ve been dealing.  Several weeks ago my ability to left click was taken away.  And at times ‘puter wanted to highlight and delete my beautiful blog prose all on it’s own.  I just couldn’t risk a break down.  I had to let my ‘puter do it’s thing without me.  And when the new Macs arrived, Big Daddy and I went straight to our favorite fruit store to meet what would become baby ‘puter number 2.

Today, that beautiful big screen that I’ve admired from afar is starring into my eyes.  It’s big, fast, and glorious.  With this amazing tech goddess at my disposal, my blog will be unstoppable.

Yep, it’s like that.

Tomorrow I’ll be back sharing a little quick tip on how to get rid of the sticky residue left behind from price tags.  Oh yeah, don’t even think about missing it.  I’m also finishing up my computer cabinet overhaul.

Until then,

Ultimate Blog Planner’s New Look!

new cover for ultimate blog planner 2.0

Hope you had a great weekend! Big Daddy and I headed out to the Lakewood 400 Antiques Market. It was decent. I have this giant pet peeve when it comes to these types of multi-dealer shows. Want to know what it is? You know you want to know.

My #1 pet peeve at antique markets is….

When the dealers discuss how awful their sales have been that day. I always feel guilty that I haven’t bought anything. I overheard at least 5 dealer-to-dealer rants about how no one wants to buy anything.

Hey, are you talkin’ to me?!

Anyways, I wanted to show you guys my newest cover design for the Ultimate Blog Planner.

Blogs I Heart

Hey guys! It’s been an amazing few days in the weather department! Can you believe Big Daddy and I are going out on a boat on Wednesday! I know some of you are still in the throws of winter so I won’t linger to long on my good fortune. 😉

I’ve been working on a few projects in crafty village but they require dry time and cure time which feels like waiting forever to tell you all about it. That start and stop writing is usually how I run this here blog but when I do that, write only after a project is ready to be blogged about, I miss blogging and hearing from you.

So, today I’m going to share some of my favorite blogs I subscribe to. This in no way is an exhaustive list because there are tons of blogs I follow but I thought it might be fun to share a few.

AWESOME-SAUCE!

Yeah, all caps are necessary cause I’m yelling it baby! I had other blog post plans this week but I HAD to write just a few words about how awesome this week has been so far.

As you may recall, I released THE ULTIMATE BLOG PLANNER and opened my own Etsy shop called Get Crafty 4a Cause. These two things were monumental for me. I mean it took me 4 months to create the Ultimate Blog Planner which is a long time for any project. I put a lot of heart and time (like a billion hours) into it and I wanted to do the best I could.

When I announced it and put it up on Etsy, got my shop name, wrote out the description, uploaded pictures, and arranged for another service to instantly email any digital orders directly to the customer, I relaxed and gave myself a hearty pat on the back.

I was all like “well done girl”. You had a vision and then you executed the plan!

At this point I was 2Legit2Quit (hey, heeeyyy). Continue reading

The Ultimate Blog Planner – Download

Have you ever had an oh-so-amazing idea of something in your mind and you felt like you couldn’t think about starting another project until the previous one was birthed, thrown up, or just materialized?

That’s how I have felt for about 4 months now. And today I’m finally ready to show off my ULTIMATE BLOG PLANNER.

Ultimate Blog Planner

I want to begin by acknowledging that many of my readers are not bloggers and I want you to know that this post is for the blogger, HOWEVER, I hope that you’ll check it out because there is still a DIY gem within!

You may remember my first free printable I whipped up called Blogger Be Better, shortly after I started this blog to organize my mental chaos. I think I used it for a minute and I quickly realized that it wasn’t meeting all of my needs. So that’s when I started to look around for something that does.

There weren’t many options, especially for someone like me that doesn’t like to use small boxes or too-small lined to-do lists. I know my eyes just can’t take those kind of planners.

After looking at many options, I decided to create my own design that I thought would work best for me and my blog and where I’m at on this blog journey.

This is my digital art masterpiece and it’s now available in my NEW Etsy shop! Gah! I can’t believe I have an Etsy shop! The name of the shop (in case you want to favorite it) is called GetCrafty4aCause.

The shop will be stocking digital art and some vintage items that can be used in your home decor. The idea is to have a percentage of each sale go to Women Stand Up! International to help women in Kenya through their personal crisis. There is so much we can do to eradicate problems such as poor nutrition, lack of shelter, and the lack of proper medication and education. These ladies are truly special and want exactly what women of other countries want; to be happy and healthy and to give their children a better life. So let’s do that!

Without further ado let me show you some pics of the Ultimate Blog Planner!

This planner has note pages, a 2-page full week spread, plus a 2-page full month overview each month! The special part (in my humble opinion) is that each page has a vintage, steampunk, or pop art type graphic with a caption. The caption is meant to inspire you, motivate you, and make you laugh. I think it does just that.

The teal blue heavy duty plastic cover you see is actually a placemat.  Yep, hard to believe huh?!  I searched high and low for a flexible yet durable cover for my planner without success until genius struck me.

If you end up buying the digital download and print out your planner at home you can use my trick to create your own cover! I just laid my paper on top of my placemat and cut the size I wanted using a paper cutter. Easy! No more flimsy plastic film covers that you’ll get when you go to Office Depot type stores!
