Hi guys! I have two projects for you this week and a little announcement.

First, I’d like to invite you to join me and a few of my gal pals at our very first Link Party!

We named it, “Your Inspired Design” because we want to see all of your fabulous DIY, Crafts, and Recipes that you’ve concocted in the previous week. I mean, for realz, it’s getting boring sharing my stuff without seeing what you’re working on. So, I hope you’ll link up your projects starting at 8am Thursdays!

Hey, remember when I said I was going to beat your pants off in the Chalky Finishes Contest? Well, I didn’t end up doing the china cabinet project that I originally had in mind but I was able to complete two smaller furniture redos.

Today, I’m going to share my mirror.

I bought this sweet antique mirror about a year ago so it was high time I made something happen with this little guy. The wood frame was actually a beautiful rich mahogany but the veneer at the bottom was pretty messed up and I knew I wanted to paint it.

Every time I look into this mirror I think of all my favorite characters from Downton Abby. Lady Mary and her Ladys maid Anna, speaking of love, lust, and heartbreak.

I wonder how many beautiful faces were greeted in the morning by my little mirror.

I love knowing that pieces like this mirror had a life somewhere with someone. I guess that’s why I love furniture so much. Last week I finished redoing a dresser for a woman expecting her first child. The dresser will be in the nursery and it will watch their child grow. I was so glad to be a part of that.

I decided to use “Yesteryear” by Americana Decor. I love that name, “Yesteryear”. It’s a beautiful light grey color.

Although here it looks quite blue. Let’s say it’s a blue-grey. I took a sanding block and did a bit of distressing and they brushed on some dark wax and clear wax to get a worn antique look.

What do you think? Have you ever used chalky finishes before?

Stopping by from the Inspired Design Party… Beautiful updated look! I love hearing the story behind a piece and often wonder about the life it had with someone else. If only furniture could talk. 🙂

The mirror looks beautiful! I really haven’t used chalk paint yet, but looking forward to doing so.
