With only 2 weeks into the new year I’m cruising right along with my Organizational Goals for 2014 and I couldn’t be happier. And if you happened to have missed yesterdays Organization 101, you’ll want to read the 6 things you need to know to get your “organizational butt” in gear.

Here’s where we started:

I still have a ways to go on this. For instance I still have piles in my bedroom that need a basket and I have baskets that aren’t full but I’m not totally sold on my set up yet so I’m not rushing the process.

I use to think that decorating, organizing, and the like, all happened in a single event. I don’t know why I thought that but I did. And it wasn’t until I started to decorate that I realized I have no idea what I’m doing or what my decorating style is. Same thing happens when I organize. I have no idea what will actually work and then I end up writing about cleaning my pantry, twice.

The bottom line is this: my linen closet is organized progress. If you’ve already come to the conclusion that all this stuff is a process, I say bravo. If you’re like me then let me encourage you to look at organization as a process and it’s okay not to get it right the first time or the fifth time. At least I’ll always have lots to write about on the blog!

Let’s take a closer look into the closet shall we?

I chose to use fabric covered containers along side of my wicker woven baskets that I already had. I considered the plastic see through drawers but in the end I decided it would limit the kinds of items I could store in the drawers so I went with baskets without a lid to accommodate the taller product bottles.

The blue fabric, pink fabric, and white plastic container all came from TJ Maxx. The woven baskets were purchased years ago and unfortunately I can’t remember where.

So what’s left to do?

Well first I’ll need to decide if this basket thing is working for me. The only way to do that is to use it as is for awhile. In the meantime, I’d like to add a little faux floating wood shelving that would slide right over the white wire shelves that are already there. Remember, I’m a renter so I don’t want to get too permanent but I also don’t care for the white wire shelves either. I haven’t found a tutorial for something like this yet so I might have to wing it. Anyone out there make temp. changes to those wire shelves? What did you do?

Lastly, if the baskets really work for us then I’ll need to add some label action.

So let’s say farewell for today with a before and after shot.
