PIN OR PASS? { #2 } Christine July 17, 2012 Pin or Pass? Da Rules: Ok, the rules of Pin or Pass are simple! I take a few pins off of Pinterest each week and test them out and provide you with the review! We’ll downsize our pin hoarding together! Can Showers Be Bling-tastic? OOOO you’re going to be happy to read this post! Alright folks get out your scrub brushes and knee pads cause we are getting down and dirty with the BATHROOM. 1st Pin Test… PINNER SAYS: “Another pinner said- I just tried this – I will NEVER buy Comet, Soft Scrub, etc again. Used in the tub – sprayed on, left for about 1/2 hr – wiped down like nothing there. it is sparkling!” MY REVIEW: First let me say, OH. MY. GOSH. Sorry I guess they’ll be no guessing which way I’m leaning on this one. I’ve sort of dreaded this test pin because I hate cleaning (who doesn’t?) but I have even more hatred for cleaning the shower/tub. My knees hurt me while I’m crouching down and I can never stand the smell so I end up taking 3 x as long to clean it. Folks, I’ve been into a gas chamber via good old Army training and I could handle that for as long as I can handle powerful cleaners. Is it just me or do those cleaners give you headaches and burn your nose? It’s very simple to do. I picked up a spray bottle from the Dollar Tree and I already had white vinegar and the blue Dawn dish soap. Use your microwave to nuke 1 cup of vinegar for 2 minutes and then pour into your spray bottle. Just add 1 cup of Dawn dish soap to your vinegar in the spray bottle and give it a gentle shake. Go get your spray on! Then leave it set for at least 30 minutes. I waited more like 45 minutes because it was nasty. No worries I won’t give you the before picture of the tub. Let’s face it, some skeletons are better left in the tub…er…closet. Caution: Shake too much and you won’t get much substance in the spray! But no worries if this happens just open your spray bottle and dump the suds into the base of the tub. The best part about this stuff is that it sticks to the walls (because of the Dawn) which would be great for getting rid of soap scum on shower doors as shown here. Anyways, this stuff works. And it’s pure awesomeness for the following reasons: 1. CHEAP You can buy large amounts of the TWO INGREDIENTS (White Vinegar and Blue Dawn Dish Soap) 2. NO SICKENING SMELL Unless you have an aversion to the smell of vinegar or soap you’re going to be sailing right through without a million “I’ve got to sit down for a minute” breaks. 3. SOFT HANDS Seriously, because it’s just dish soap and vinegar there is no need to break out the gloves. Of course, I probably will next time just because I hate the way stray hairs feel on my hands…yuk. 4. BLING-A-BILITY Yep, those chrome rims (around your shower’s cold/hot handles) are going to be BLING-TASTIC! Seriously though it works. PIN OR PASS: Go for it! This is pure PIN all the way! Up next… 2nd Pin Test is 30 Day Abs PINNER SAYS: “someone said: 30-day ab challenge. I just had to repin this because I’ve been doing it for only 4 days now (and at only 10 reps instead of 25) and already I’m seeing definition. And I’ve tried pretty much every Ab workout on pintrest and haven’t seen these kind of results.” MY REVIEW: I don’t need 30 days to test this because I did these exact exercises for years while in the Army. They kill. I can bet on doing these for 30 days will make a huge difference for everyone. If you can’t do these exercises now don’t worry you will soon. I couldn’t do pull ups but I literally tried every day until I could. Sometimes I just hung there and grunted. Just try. You’ll thank me later. PIN OR PASS: Pin it baby! Question: What pin do you want me to test next? 12 Responses Sarah Ingram July 21, 2012 What a great blogging idea! I found your original post through the Classy Clutter link party. Offhand, one pin I’ve tried that works sometimes is the two parts hydrogen peroxide and one part Dawn spot remover. It got some spots out of 2 different light colored rugs, but not other spots. (My Mom warned me that the peroxide could have a bleaching effect so I haven’t tried it on anything darker.) Anyway, maybe you could try some of the other spot removers?? Reply ccleahy July 23, 2012 Thanks for the tip Sarah! I’m sure I can find more than one thing around here with a stain! 🙂 Reply Donna Wilkes July 22, 2012 Great idea to review the pins – i have seen some doozies. One question -how do you get the vinegar mixture off the tub walls? Came over from Twigg’s. Distressed Donna Down Home Reply ccleahy July 23, 2012 Hi Donna! I normally like to clean the shower while I’m in the shower which allows me to point the shower head at the walls to rinse them. I also use a regular sponge to wipe down the walls.
