Da Rules:  Ok, the rules of Pin or Pass are simple! I take a few pins off of Pinterest each week and test them out and provide you with the review! We’ll downsize our pin hoarding together!

Can Chocolate Be Good For Your Face?

1st Pin Test…

PINNER SAYS:  “Chocolate face mask.”

MY REVIEW:  You have to admit that the picture is crazy and yet delicious! I had to try this even if it meant that it might make me break out. My skin is sensitive and I’m always struggling to keep my oily skin in check. So I’m taking a big risk! See how much I love chocolate…er…you guys!

Alright, let’s get right to it!

Here’s the recipe:

» You’ll Need:
– 1/3 cup natural cocoa powder (no sugar added)
– 2 tbsp heavy cream
– 2 tsp cottage cheese
– 3 tsp honey

Anyone else getting hungry? At this point I’m having serious reservations about throwing all this on my face instead of into a mixer…

» What to Do: Mix everything together in a large bowl.

Apply to dampened skin and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes.

Rinse with warm water. Can be used once a week.

Another reservation I had was how I would be able to withstand the temptation of having CHOCOLATE on my face for 20 minutes without licking it off.

Here are a few pics of the process…

Da’ ingredients plus the Magic Bullet equals chocolate truffle quality face mask…

You know I had to taste it before I applied it to my face….

Tis early for Halloween but here I am frightening the ‘hood with my OH SO COCO MASK

Ok here’s the inside scoop. First of all I like to investigate a Pin prior to reviewing it. I found out that the recipe Pinned wasn’t exactly the same recipe as the one they cited as their source. I decided that I had to stay true to the challenge and only review the recipe as the Pin stated. If you’d like more information on the variations of this recipe go here.

I applied my mask in the bathroom over the sink using a butter knife. Yes, it’s exactly like icing a cupcake. The mixture is thick so the best way to manipulate it is to dip your knife in warm water as you apply the icing…er…mask.

It didn’t sting my face except for the spot where I pinched a zit earlier (my bad). I left my mask on for a good 20 minutes. The great thing about this mask was that as it dried it didn’t pull my skin. Of course, you feel the mask tighten but it wasn’t as much as the other department store masks I’ve tried. In fact, the tightening was so slight I forgot I had it on. Except for the ever present aroma of coco beneath my nostrils. Seriously, if you don’t like the smell of chocolate then don’t put this mask on!

I decided to remove my mask with paper towels soaked in warm water. By the way, Bounty paper towels are really tough cleaners! Right away I realized that this mask was going to flake off rather than be wiped off. It really got messy in my sink! Actually it reminded me of the those fancy deserts where you get chocolate shavings on top.

Once the mask was completely removed I could tell a difference. My skin felt softer and didn’t feel dried out which is a good thing for an oily face. Up close my pores seemed smaller and my black heads around my chin area seemed to have gone bye bye.

PIN OR PASS?:  It’s a little extra work but I think it’s worth it. So, PIN IT! Besides, you’ll get to lick the bowl.

Here’s a Pinterest photo if you’re inclined….

Question: Have you tried this mask before?

I’m linking this project up here and here.

What a neat experiment!! Thanks for checking out the Pick Your Plum link-up, but this doesn’t look like it used any PYP products, so I unfortunately had to delete it from the PYP link-up. If you are looking for the regular Things I’ve Done Thursday party, that link up starts at midnight EST. Hope to see you back!

They always say we put too many chemicals on our skin that leak into our bodies and mess us up. No problem here since the face mask is all edible. I have to admit it’s kind of funny, but safe and might be worth giving a try. Thanks for testing it out. Bless you, Gail (BibleLoveNotes.com)
