Transform Hanging Files With Wrapping Paper Christine January 20, 2014 Office Accessories, Organization Happy Monday to you. Like I said on Friday, Big Daddy and I had class this weekend. And it. was. amazing. We are incredibly blessed to belong to a church who fought for 4 years to give their members the opportunity to be taught by professors from Indiana Wesleyan University. If I knew who those peeps were who thought this was a good idea, I’d give them a big hug and a thank you. School was great and football was great, Go Seahawks! And today I’m back at trying to recapture some sort of sanity via some good old fashioned organization. So far, this organizing thing is totally working. Today I have something special for you to help you achieve some sort of clutter control for all of your home office files. Now, I work from home so my files range from home appliance warranties to non-profit work, to mentoring, to blog bid-ness. So in general my files are a hot mess because I’m balancing non-profit work with for profit work. I started by going through my files. It’s amazing how many file folders I was using for the same things. This tells me something about my previous system. It was total crap. I couldn’t or wouldn’t find the correct file folder so I would just make up a new one. This lazy girl’s way of organizing can catch up with you really fast. After I went through all the files and purged the junk, then condensed the others I was left with a very manageable stack of very cute folders I got from Target. However, I was then putting these devilishly cute folders in between an army green or poo poo brown hanging file folder. What’s the point of buying pretty folders when they become sandwiched betwixt poo? The solution? Buy cute wrapping paper and glue it to the outside of the hanging file. Ahhh. Don’t you feel better? I know I do. This wrapping paper is spot on with today’s trend but utilizing a grey neutral color allows my bright cheery folders to hang in all of their glory without any competition. This Hanging File Transformation is super easy. Check it out. You’ll need: 1. Wrapping paper of your choice. I bought mine at Marshalls. 2. Poo colored hanging files. Don’t worry, you probably already have them. 3. Scissors 4. Aleena’s Tacky Dot Runner Now, open your hanging file and place it on the wrapping paper. Trace around the file leaving about 1 inch at the top and bottom of the file. You’ll use that 1 inch of wrapping paper to fold over the edge. I used my Tacky Dot Runner around the edges of the outside of the hanging file plus a few lines in the middle for good measure. I placed the wrapping paper piece that I cut out over the top of the file. Be sure to line up the edges before you press down on the paper. Once the paper is smooth and stuck, turn over the file folder. You should be looking at the inside of the hanging file. Run another glue line along the top edges (where the metal hangers are) and fold over the extra 1 inch of wrapping paper and press onto the glue. Smooth out any wrinkles. That’s it! So cute right? Have you guys done this yet to your poo colored hanging files? Send me a pic of the paper you chose! 11 Responses Brynne Delerson January 20, 2014 Cute cute cute!
