PIN OR PASS? {#1} Christine July 10, 2012 Pin or Pass? Are you ready to play Pin or Pass? The Game: For those of you on Pinterest, you may have noticed an infectious pin on a slew of boards and just as you pin it to your cleverly named board, you think, “I wonder if this really works?” I hope to make the ever growing “Pin Hoarding” a thing of the past. Just think of me as your independent tester! Each week I’ll snag a few pins off of Pinterest that make me wonder if it really works and I’ll test it and then report back to you each Tuesday! For those not on Pinterest, don’t worry it’s not essential to my post! If you’d like to get on Pinterest but need an invite, contact me! Pin #1 Pinner Says: House smelling weird? Put two caps full of vanilla extract in a coffee cup, then place it in the oven at 300 degrees for one hour. Within twenty minutes the whole house smells like Heaven. It’s actually a common realtor trick. Pin or Pass: Pass Review: I actually tried this twice with two different brands of Pure Vanilla Extract without success. It smelled like something was cooking but it never smelled like vanilla. Instead I ended up with a yucky black-brown glob in my coffee cup! Pin #2 Pinner Says: Use a hairdryer to remove stickers. Pin or Pass: Pin! Review: I tried to remove a product sticker from the bottom of a pan that I’ve had for quite awhile and within 30 seconds (I timed it) of heat from my hairdryer hovering just about 1-2 inches above the surface, the sticker practically fell off! I tried again except this time I grabbed 2 plastic plates (from Target) that I’d given up on trying to get the stickers off! Again, 30 seconds later the sticker was cleanly (and all in one piece) removed! Have you had different results trying these tips and tricks? If you’d like me to test a pin, just leave a comment below! 18 Responses marilyn July 12, 2012 It's so true….just because an item is on pinterest does not mean it works! 😀 Reply WonkyWonderful July 13, 2012 Great post idea – I always wonder what pin ideas actually work and which ones do not. My mom does the vanilla thing but she puts some water with it and does it on the stove top instead of the oven. Thanks for sharing at the All Star Block Party.
