linky party hostess

We had some really creative party guests last week and it was hard to pick favorites, but here are my top picks.

Kristi at Making It in the Mountains shared a super easy way to make a cute pom-pom pillow that I plan to try.

I’ve been in a un~clutter mode since the beginning of the year so I really appreciated how Angela at Organized & Simplified showed off her reorganized master closet.

As a lover of flea market shopping and repurposing old pieces with paint, I loved how Debra at Shoppe No. 5 transformed a “mystery” piece to a usable and pretty table/cushion.

Your Inspired Design Link Party #21 & Features

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to Your Inspired Design Link Party #21!
linkparty1
I am delighted to be your host today- I hope everyone has had a nice week…our weather here in Florida has been quite a bit warmer lately- high 70’s/low 80’s-we even hit the pool one day! (I’m loving it, since I hate cold weather!!)

Around the cottage, I have been gearing up for Valentines Day and adding some sweet touches of pink to my decor- be sure to tune in tomorrow for more pink accents in the Living and Dining Room!
Last week’s party was so great, I really loved seeing what everyone is working on…here are a few of my favorites:
Following the KonMari Method outlined in the life-changing magic of tidying up, we’ve worked our way through the entire house to get rid of anything and everything that doesn’t {spark joy} with the ultimate goal to simplify our life.
The Ultimate Guide to Decluttering from Making it in the Mountains
I had to laugh, because I have this book on my bedside table right now (purchased it over the holidays) and it’s so great! (I recently finished “decluttering” our entire home and it feels so good) Thanks so much for sharing!!

High Style Rstyle Restoration Hardware Inspired Table Makeover
Another favorite was this table makeover from High Style Restyle inspired by Restoration Hardware. I just LOVE how this table turned out…the parquet top is just gorgeous and the new stain is perfect! Way to go!!
Skillet Brownie Sundae with Caramel
Skillet and Brownie Sundae from Nourish and Nestle
Maybe it’s because Valentines Day is just around the corner, or because I have been on a “sweets” fast for the month of January, but Nourish and Nestle’s recipe for Skillet Brownie Sundaes in individual mini 5″ cast iron skillets looks absolutely fabulous!
Thanks so much for everyone who shared last week, and keep those Incredible Inspired Designs coming…

Your Inspired Design Link Party #20 & Features

Hey Y’all!

I am so excited to be hosting this week’s party.  Your talents and creativity do not disappoint and last weeks party was no exception.

Link PartyAround the manor we have been painting and restoring furniture.  I featured a piece this week that is being judged right now (in my opinion it’s pretty great) but there are so many other great pieces in the competition so I’ll just take it all in stride. In fact, one of the other contestants is our very own Christine from Let’s Get Crafty!  And another one linked up here, so I thought I’d display all 3 here for you to enjoy.

See what I mean?  These are all pretty great, and on top of that there are about 30 other pieces that we are competing against.

…………………………………………………………………………………………….

So back to the reason why you are here. Here are some of my favorites from last week’s link up, y’all go give them some love!

Gloria from Tudor Lane did a great job with the shiplap over her fireplace, there’s even a fun video that shows her process! I love it!

Cindy at Born House Living made them incredible Valentine’s envelopes.  I absoluetly love how she aged the fabric and made the sweet little hearts to go in them.  Adorbs!

Kristi at Making it in the Mountains gives us links to 10 DIY projects!  As I was looking through them all, I realized that my to do list grew very rapidly.

Chalk Painted Side Table With General Finishes

Disclosure: This post contains sponsored links from General Finishes. I received a product in exchange for my honest review.  Please see my full disclosure policy here.

I’m chalk painting a side table today using one of my favorite paints, General Finishes. This cute table is a part of the “Fresh Start” monthly challenge that The Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest, where we take old furniture and breathe new life into them!

This month was tough because the weather really limits what I can get done. Thankfully, this month we were using General Finishes Chalk Style paint with low VOC! Yay for that because this baby had to be painted inside.

I picked up this side table at an auction. You know, I used to buy most of my furniture from Craigslist, but these days it’s so much easier to buy from an auction. You can read my tips for buying from an auction right here.

Honestly, this table wasn’t in too bad of shape but it was just dated by the color and high gloss finish.

Chalk Style Painting using General Finishes

Oh the kitties. They were relentless during this project. I’m pretty sure if I recorded this process of chasing 2 cats away from paint that it would go viral. I look and act like a maniac. Then I put the little ones in a room where they proceed to howl. When I let them out, I get a good snubbing. #ican’twin.

I ended up using General Finishes Chalk Style paint in Midnight Blue. It’s a pretty color. Dark, greyed-out, with some purple like undertones. This piece has 2 coats, no sanding, and no wax. I just wanted to get a sense of the paint, you know?

Coverage was better then most and it definitely lacks the harsh chalky feel, which I don’t like. Because the paint felt fairly smooth and non-chalk like, I decided not sand. I might go back and do some distressing but I’ll live with it for awhile before I decide.

Dry time between each coat is 1-2 hours but I probably could have waited 45 minutes and gone for another coat because it dries fast.

So what do you think? Would you try General Finishes Chalk style paint? I would definitely use it again. I’d like to try to use some wax and see how much the color deepens.

For more color choices, check out our hosts posts.

Your Inspired Design Link Party #19 & Features

Hi friends and welcome to Your Inspired Design!

Here at Potentially Chic we have been doing lots of planning and projects around the shop to make 2016 our Sweet ’16! And it will in turn be a Sweet ’16 for our clients and customers, too!

Gloria just got back from market in Atlanta and found some exciting and fabulous new products to bring to the store, so be certain to keep an eye out for when they start coming in on our Facebook page and here on the website.

Last week, we had some great submissions for YID, it was hard to choose the features but we narrowed down a few to share with you this week.  If you didn’t see them last week, be sure to pop over and give them some love!

We love a good curbside makeover and Lynn over at Nourish and Nestle definitely saved this little gem.  It has great storage for her in her office and a bonus, she’s also a Walking Dead fan! A little jealous of her Daryl poster.

Lyn at Repurposed for Life added a simple barn door to her closet.  So cute and easy to do.  I’m searching for somewhere in my house to add one.  I will find it!

I love the simple and clean look of winter decorating after all the Christmas is taken down.  Katrin at Kreativ K shared her cozy winter living and dining room.  I could definitely live there.

Now let’s see what you have this week!
