Hey Girl…Can I Be Your Valentine? Christine February 13, 2013 Holiday, Uncategorized If you’re on Pinterest then you’ve likely seen Ryan Gosling in ruggedly handsome photos with witty and wishful-thinking type prose superimposed onto it. I think these wildly edited images are first of all hysterical but also a bit telling of what a man could give a certain kind of woman (i.e. someone like me pinterest obsessed, DIY-er, blogger) on a special kind of day like Valentine’s Day. I couldn’t tell you who the first wishful thinking woman was who wrote the first “Hey Girl” but from what I gather it started in late 2008. Since then, women from all walks of life have created their own special version of what they would want a good looking man to say to them. Here are a few of my favorites… Big Daddy, I promise I didn’t write this one but it about says it all. Guys, I love Golden Girls. Always have. Always will. However, Big Daddy hates it. Really hates it. When I’m having a really bad day he’ll watch it with me. Maybe this V-Day we can watch it together? This is incredibly accurate. I make Big Daddy read my posts. In fact, I sit right next to him to make sure he does. Yeah, it’s weird. I know I shouldn’t need that validation. But I do and so he does. Thanks Big Daddy. I read these and I think that someone out there is living my exact life and it makes me feel better about the mess that is always in my house. Currently, my kitchen table is still covered with materials I used to make my Ultimate Blog Planner. I can only hope Big Daddy feels this way…. Actually I hate glitter for this very reason! Big Daddy if you get me a card for Valentine’s Day and it happens to have glitter will you scrape it off before sealing the envelope? Ok, Big Daddy doesn’t know what Random.org is but I’ve thought this before and I want a Silhouette (or Cricut) and well I hate that I never win these giveaways.ย This reminds me of our photo shoot when I blogged about my DIY Barbell. Recently, I slyly asked Big Daddy to stop off at this “place” so I could pick up some wood pallets I saw on Craigslist. I know that he never thought he would be rummaging through old wood piles for that perfect piece of pallet. But Big Daddy’s a super trooper and we went home with 5 pallets. Thanks for letting me have my Crafty Village (separate 2 car garage/workshop) and aย crafty office in the house. ๐ Yep, I made a burlap wreath here, here, and here. I don’t think any of them were featured either. Boo. Yeah, I have a disease and there is no cure. I actually made a song about it and one day I’ll reveal it in video form just as soon as I can talk Big Daddy into a starring role. It’s a great day when this actually happens. Although I tried this on the way home from church last week and it was a no go. Whomp, whomp. This one makes me laugh-cry. I’m actually good at the coupon thing but you know I like me some Michael’s. Ok, I haven’t done this to a dresser but I’ve thought about it. Of course, you may remember my Atlas Sunburst Mirrorย that I made by tearing pages of maps from books. When ya’ll don’t hear from me it’s mostly because I’ve downloaded a million photos from the internet (um, like today) and my computer gets choked up and refuses to work. Well, Big Daddy has rescued me on more than one occasion. Seriously, I think I tell him “my startup disc is full” more than anything else. Remember when I got hacked? Now that I’ve opened my Etsy Shop I can imagine Big Daddy doing this because he already does. I’m terrible at talking about my non-profit helping women in crisis and anything I’ve done that’s kind of cool. Big Daddy always makes me shine. Remember the Toilet Paper Flower Mobile? When we moved Big Daddy gently asked if we could throw out those 100+ empty toilet paper rolls I’d been saving. We threw them out and I don’t regret it. I appreciate that he let me collect them to no end plus the cereal boxes I used to make my Star Garland. Never. Going. To. Happen. Big Daddy if you ever said something like this to me I think I would fall in love with you all over again. But this would mean you would actually have to come inside and not sit in the car and wait for me. ๐ In conclusion, the “Hey Girl” wishful thinking is actually, in my case, more true than I ever gave Big Daddy credit for. So thanks Gos for illustrating one point. Big Daddy, you’re the best. ever. I love you. Happy Valentine’s Day, ya’ll. P.S. If you’re really into the Gos you can read more “Hey Girl” here. I’m linking up hereย and here. 27 Responses Diane February 14, 2013 So funny…really enjoyed these. Reply ccleahy February 14, 2013 Thanks Diane!!!
